Jet Grouting
|
|
Patented reinforced jet grouted columns provide excavation support for deep foundation
construction adjacent to active railways.

|
Project Overview: |
|
Layne GeoConstruction designed and constructed a system of reinforced jet grouted columns to provide
excavation support and a continuous groundwater cutoff wall between operational AMTRAK and MBTA tracks
at the main rail station serving Boston and northern New England. The patented system was utilized in
lieu of the contract design that required drilled soldier piles, lagging and permeation grouting. The
work was successfully completed in fill and organic soils without disruption to this heavily used
station. The project was successfully completed and the new bridge is now open to traffic.
