Project Overview: |
|
Layne GeoConstruction installed a deep grout curtain for the Penn Forest Dam Replacement
project. Approximately 400 holes were drilled, to depths exceeding 200 feet. The drill
holes were washed, pressure tested and grouted conventionally with cementitious grouts.
Approximately 60,000 linear feet of drilling was completed, with verification holes
completed using NQ-2 style core equipment.
The project was unique and challenging, in that 20% of the work was completed on a near
vertical slope, using CP-style drills. Additionally, the accelerated project timetable
contributed to the challenge, as Layne employed 40 personnel working around the clock,
seven days per week.
