the existing Central Parking Garage structure.

|
Project Overview: |
|
Layne GeoConstruction, in a joint venture with Nicholson Construction Company, installed 800 drilled
micropiles, for new deep foundation support for the addition of two new levels atop the existing
five-level Central parking garage at Boston’s Logan International Airport.
The 215 ton capacity drilled micropiles were installed to depths of over 100 feet. Low headroom and
limited access, as well as open headroom piles were installed. Two specially designed crawler mounted,
hydraulic drill rigs were fabricated for use on the project, to supplement the existing fleet of low
headroom drills.
Four drill rigs installed the total of 800 drilled micropiles in six months.
