Project Overview: |
|
Layne GeoConstruction designed and installed 168 drilled micropiles for support of two Selective
Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Units at the Petersburg Generation Station in Petersburg, Indiana. Work
was conducted during the operational period of the plant in and around working equipment. An
additional 35 piles were installed for foundation support of transformer pads and an ammonia storage
area. The total linear footage installed on the project was over 12,300.
The design loads of the piles ranged from 40 to 150 tons in compression and up to 70 tons in tension.
Pre-production verification testing was conducted to 250% of design load and production proof testing
was conducted to 167% of design load. All test results met project requirements. The dedication and
efficiency of the Layne field staff brought the project in I week ahead of schedule.
