Drilled Micropiles
Micropiles are installed for temporary support and underpinning of existing airport terminal structure during normal airport operation.
Project Overview:
Layne GeoConstruction provided the design and installation of over 200 drilled micropiles for underpinning support of existing footings for a planned expansion of the airport. An underground rail line connecting the concourses of the airport to the main terminal is being constructed. The drilled micropiles were installed to underpin existing footings for the construction of the train station at the main terminal.

The drilled micropiles were installed to an average depth of 45 feet, with design loads ranging from 80 to 200 kips. All micropiles were installed in limited access conditions around existing baggage conveyors and operating utilities.
