Vibratory Ground Improvement
Wet Top Feed Stone Column Elements were installed to improve the subsurface soils.
Project Overview:
Site development of the San Juan Creek for the South Coast Water District required the capability to provide uninterrupted services to the community after a major earthquake. Due to fluctuating groundwater level at the adjacent San Juan Creek and the high potential for liquefaction of the saturated loose sand soils, the Engineer determined that stone column densification was necessary to improve the ground conditions for the project.

Layne GeoConstruction installed over 1,000 Top Feed Stone Column Elements in engineered patterns over the 80,000 square feet site area to densify the critical areas for site development.
